I went out to try and tidy up the garden, get rid of some old and withered growth, and got sidetracked,
Nothing much but I quite like these 2.

Nice detailed, almost abstract shots - suit B&W too :thumb:

I've done the garden distraction thing many times, I've found the secret now...

...if you go out to do the garden with the camera you are guaranteed to get nothing done. If you go out to do the garden without the camera then you will get a few minutes digging/pruning/planting done before you spot something that makes you think "that'll make a good photo", so then you go and get the camera and get nothing else done.

I spotted the first one on facebook. I really like that one. The combination of sharp edges, the angle of the light and the shallow DoF really makes for a stunning image. Well spotted.

nicely captured, the choice to convert to B&W suits the image.

cheers guys, they really were just a flat brown colour with not much variation, hence the mono conversion.
The first one is my preference of the 2, the contrast between the really sharp spikes and the way the light just hit them at that time.
