A moment in the sun

Even a weed gets to have its moment in the sun

The bluebells are just out in the bottom of my garden.

Nice colouring coming out of those bluebell macros....

...and that isn't a weed - it's an unwanted flower

A moment in the sun

Cheers lennybloke, I was just trying to get enough light without it being too glaringly obvious that I used the ring flash.
I cobbled together a homemade diffuser.
I think its better anyway.

They are very nice results especially using a ring light, all part of the fun of macro coming up with ways to control light.

A moment in the sun

The dish is a cheap plastic £1 mixing bowl from a £1 shop.
Inside painted white, outside black.
I have repurposed it again as I have used it in the past as a beauty dish.
It had a biscuit tin lid around where the coffee tin is now and a small slot at the back for the flash head to sit into.
I've removed the lid and cut the center of the Base out so the ring flash sits more or less right.
The coffee tin sits into the center of the flash and just some transparent foamy type stuff to further diffuse.

I did say I cobbled it together :hyenas:

So the light is forced out the side through the the foam then the dish just contains and directs, nice.

I am liking the diffuser Derek.
This is as far as I got:

I cut the pipe open and lined it with tin foil.
Macro on a budget. (and yes, that is the bottom of a milk bottle acting as a diffuser) :D

That looks spot on. I have done something similar in the past with a pringles tube. If It does the job that's all that matters :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
