On the road to Skye

Here are a couple taken on the way to Skye after the overnight stop in Glencoe.
These were "stop the car moments" as something caught my eye - Scotland being full of these opportunities - it can take a while to reach your destination.

On the road to Skye

Really admire your processing, almost adams-esque

I think these prove that the journey can be just as exciting as the destination

On the road to Skye

I look at these fine photos of your, and then ask myself, 'What am I doing here in Oxford?'

Such is the power of your photography!

Thank you for sharing, but it is really becoming rather upsetting.

PS Did you take the Mallaig - Armadale ferry?
My homeland is up there, in Morar.

Excellent images. Can't wait for my Scotland trip in May.

I'm taking the Mallaig ferry, Ronnie!

On the road to Skye

Thank you for the kind words - I'm happy with the K-3 and the pretty inexpensive 55-300mm 1:4-5.8 ED WR (old verison - red ring) @ 300mm
It was my first trip to Skye and I need to return. It was an exhausting 6 days with 0500 starts in time for daybreak and back in late after sunsets. Ronnie - no ferries were taken but I'm already eyeing up a Lewis/Harris trip. Here's a very short video my friend made of the trip - it'll just encourage you organise that trip.

That's a stunning video! Well worth the watching and good to see your photos in there too. South of Harris is amazing, Lewis is good for the standing stones at Callanish plus some more. I took a ferry from Mallaig to Armadale (S. Skye), ferry from Uig (N. Skye) to Tarbet, Harris and then pootled down the Hebridies to Barra from where I took a ferry to Oban; memorable! There's also the ferry from Stornaway to Ullapool as an alternative, but I guess you've been checking it all out. They make Gin on Harris - weird or what!

Have a great time.

You're going to love the road from Fort William (or Loch Ailort) to Mallaig, take the coastal road from Arisaig to Mallaig if time permits, get's you right up close to the shore. Check out the Morar falls and Loch Morar too if you get a chance. Mallaig is a dump, but I personally like it - one of the few active fishing ports in the UK.
