I've dealt with these guys before and they were very good; products as described, quick to respond and post.

Thought i'd give them a name drop, especially as they have a SMC M 50mm f1.2 for sale at the minute, for those who like that sort of thing :chin:

Good point. There wasn't. It's probably a K version

West Yorkshire Cameras

They've recently re-vamped their website so hopefully updates will be more frequent than they used to be. I bought a few things from them early on, generally good guys to deal with - I had an issue with a large item, they dealt with the problem promptly and refunded inc. my return postage (many companies try to avoid doing this).

Pricing is quite variable, some stuff seems excellent (a Pentax A 200mm f4 for under £50 !!!) - I've not visited the shop but I bet it's a real treasure trove to look around

There wasn't an M version of the 50/1.2 - it's likely to be the 'K' version. Remember that 'K' was never actually a named series (there is no 'K' identifier in the imprinted lens information) so unless you're into Pentax it can be a little confusing, in real terms there is no difference between M and K lenses in their operation (there maybe in size, build, etc.).

a variety of my stuff can be found here......

Yes the website used to be very unfriendly and not up to date. Hopefully they'll add some pictures soon!

It's a lovely little building that the market is in. Well worth a trip if you're ever near Leeds

Photos will be the absolute key - there are a number of minor errors, so seeing the item will help greatly. Some things you can work out quite easily (a Pentax M rear converter -A 2xS is clearly an A series item and superb value at £25) but there are lenses described as M series that may possibly be K, and that affects the decision on whether to buy or not (for me anyway).

I'm sure I'd walk out of their shop with a few handfuls of stuff - so it's probably best I stay away :thumb:

I can just see the conversation with the wife

"so, you've got the 55mm 1.8 PK which you love to death"

"yeah... "

" And now you've spent 250 quid on a very similar lens, but at 50mm"

"yep... "

" and that 250 quid means you won't ever have to just take a small step back when using the 55mm, to get the equivalent shot with the 50mm"

"Correct"

"right..... "

Use an analogy when justifying it to the wife....

"You remember when you needed the deep claret shoes with the 3/4in heel because the deep claret 1/2in heel shoes were too low and the 3/4in heel dark red shoes were the wrong shade........"

I'm not saying you'll win but I'd like to watch you trying

We have this conversation already, but for 'claret shoes' substitute 'black knee length work dresses'

:D

I could never be in a situation where I have to justify anything I buy to anyone :)

Funnily enough, Smeggy, I now find myself in that situation.

I popped into the shop today....

You name it, they had it! Including a pretty massive selection of medium format and pretty much any type of film you could want

Plus the chap there was super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

Big thumbs up from me

(and no, I don't know him personally!)
