Hello from Calderdale

Hello,

I thought I would join the forum as I am returning to the fray after a few years away. I used to shoot with a K10, but the autofocus died on me and since it was old I decided to get a new camera. However, I elected to pick a Samsung Mirrorless camera which whilst fine has never quite given me the photos I desired.

The reason I went down that route was to save weight hiking, however I've switched to using my iPhone for that anyway. So I thought I would get a new Pentax body as I've got lenses (6 or so) which was a decision between the k70, k3 II and the kp. I went for the k70 - I would have picked the KP, but there were a few things that bothered me about it and it was pretty much twice the price.

I've ordered from Bristol Cameras who have bundled it with a 50mm DA prime and a spare battery for the same price as Amazon and other online retailers which I thought was quite good.

Anyway, off to see some Stone Circles in Derbyshire next weekend so hopefully have some shots.

Cheers,

Mark.

PS - picture is from Tromso, Norway.

Hello from Calderdale

Welcome aboard Mark - I'm sure you'll enjoy your new K70 :thumb: To be honest the quality from all the current Pentax models is so good that it really does come down to picking the features and budget that suits you. Look forward to seeing some of your stuff. From your Tromso shot it's clear you've got the eye for composition, looks an amazing place for photography. Roll on Derbyshire

a variety of my stuff can be found here......

Re: Hello from Calderdale

Yes, it seemed like IQ is pretty great across the board. It appears that sports and wildlife are perhaps weaker areas with the K70, but I don't do that all that often and I think it's a relative issue (which is your point) so I am not too fussed. One thing that amazes me is the max ISO on my K10 was 1600 and it's 10K on this. At the top level I assume it's not great, but on the K10 it was awful beyond 800 so that's great for my enjoyment of shooting in churches.

Scandinavia in Autumn/Winter is really good for photos because the light is always good - I went to Iceland pre SLR and got good pictures there on a £150 Canon point and shoot.
