It was a random idea to pose with my guitar. The lighting was pretty basic so I thought I would go to town with the PP.

Using a combination of Lightroom and Photoshop. Using a variety of techniques including the healing brush, dodging and burning, adding textures, layer masking and colour toning this is the final image

because I wanted to give Sam some options I then applied a gradient map and produced a B&W conversion. I'm not certain which version I prefer.

These work way better than the last one, either or both would be worth having in a portfolio (to me anyway)
For me the mono just pips it, don't know why though, just does.

I'd give a vote to the colour one. The lighting on the monochrome has a less natural look, but that's just my preference taste wise I think

Much prefer the colour version. The earthy colours are great. Very nice PP too. Only constructive critique I'd give is his face looks a little plastic for some reason

Like the pose and what you have done with it PP wise , my only niggle is the skin tones on the face are not very natural or flattering, as Smeggy say's his face looks a bit plasticky .

Grace me guide.
