I think this is one of those images that suits both, I do have a slight favourite - but what do you think?

Tough choice, but mono for me, the detail pops in mono, it kind of blends in in colour. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Thought you might prefer the Mono Derek - that's my leaning too but usually it's a clear "one or the other" that does it for me, this time I can see the best in both :thumb:

As can I John, hence the tough choice. Th colour is a fine shot, on its own, it's only when you stack it beside the mono that it loses some of its shine. Crackers both

In this instance I prefer the colour. I am enjoying the pairing of the wood tones on the floor and ceiling balancing the portrait style

I’m with Burnhole, I prefer the colour, as the brown warm tones of the wood and the cool greys of the stone gives it a less harsh and more calming feel, it’s almost like a autumn landscape indoors, which I think suits the subject better.

Thanks Guys - I took a number of shots inside the Great Malvern Priory and spent quite a bit of time messing about with mono conversions and other PP, overall the split is about 50/50 on which shot suits which style. All part of the fun :thumb:

I prefer the colour version. For me the shot is a little too busy for B&W.

In the warm tones of the colour shot, one can almost feel and smell the atmosphere of a pleasant place to sit awhile or longer and contemplate, whereas the mono seems cold and less welcoming.

Thanks Guys - I guess Colour wins then

It's funny how different a photo can look when produced in these 2 outputs - the B&W has a crisper, more contrasty look whilst the Colour is warmer and softer :cool1:

B&W shots always work better for me when the subject matter is either a human interaction ( i.e street photography ) or a landscape/still life when there isn't tons of detail. This shot has tons of detail and works better in colour for me as said :)
