It has been quite a while since I posted anything on this.
As you all helped so much in putting it together I thought I would give you a bit of an update.
Firstly, it isn't happening in 2017
Sadly Belinda has been suffering a lot with her knee and hip and it looks like she may need a double replacement operation in the near future. Consequently the thought of jiggling her about, in a 4X4, for 12 hours per day, 7 days per week for ten weeks didn't seem like such a good idea.
Secondly, the overhead cost. We would have had to pay out around £3000 to book the ferry tickets just as we were finishing the studio and right before Christmas. We just simply didn't have the resources available. That doesn't take into account the need for a trailer (as discussed in the other thread).
However all is not lost. The concept is still sound and I am looking to carry out a slimmed down (weekend) version around the sights of Norfolk. I'm looking at starting on a Friday evening, to cover Norwich, then start on the east coast (for sunrise) on Saturday morning, follow the coast to end on the west coast (for sunset) that evening. Sunday would cut through the county and drop the clients back at Norwich in the afternoon. We should be able to cover some stunning scenery, stately homes and a fair bit of wildlife.
I'm still recce'ing and planning this one.
Hopefully Iceland will be possible in 2018. If Belinda isn't up for it, I may do it solo. This will allow me to take up to 3 customers (thereby reducing the cost) although it might curtail some of the catering options (beans on toast anyone? ).
Anyhow I didn't want you to think that all your input was in vain.
I'll keep you updated on developments.
