Having been too slow off the mark for the last MX-1 on Amazon I'm wondering if the XG-1 might be a good option for a family member who is very much auto/point & shoot. Anyone any experience please?
I don't see why not. DPR have done a recent review of superzooms, and although the XG-1 did'nt win, it won "bangs for your buck" saying that considering the price it was an excellent camera. so there you go.
Thank you Gents. I promoted the idea of the XG-1 but there was resistance to the size so in the short supply of the MX-1 I bought a Sony RX-100 for the F-in-Law. I have to say that the pics are excellent for a compact and its reviews in terms of IQ are justified, probably a slight edge on the MX-1.
However, as Blunty asked "which one would he go for between this and the MX-1" even though the price of the RX-100 is much closer to the MX-1 now if you could get one I know what I'd take and it ain't the Sony. Build quality, handling, longevity.................. the MX-1 will be a classic IMO. Where's the MX-1 replacement Pentax?
