I love my K-01

I have thought about one. I see it as the perfect travel camera for higher risk areas. It is cheap and yet the IQ matches anything APSC wise and it is good to use with cheap manual but quality lenses.

Off to BC Canada later this week, come late August, I'll start looking, but I will be patient and wait for the one I most want....

YELLOW!

Even if deep down I appreciate that the colour of the camera will not help me improve what photographic skills I might have  .

you may get a yellow one in Canada apparently they were quite popular that side of the pond.
Me I love my K-01s, always try and carry them with me even if it's only in the boot of the car...whilst they're not as light as Q they are better IQ machines. I use FA and F zooms on mine with an occasional use of A, M and M42s when the mood takes.
Focus peaking is fine by me.
I just realise I said all this when Smeggy started the conversation the other day...well it still rings true.
Actually between the Qs, K-01s and K-50 and 500 I decided I didn't need the K3- which as lovely as it was , was beyond my capabilities and I struggled to enjoy using it- hopefully it has a great new home with Neil. :)

Hey Dave, I'll look out for one over there, but this could get me into serious trouble viz-a-viz holiday funds!

Or you could go for the limited [Smurf] Blue/White version?

I do recall someone saying the bright coloured one's were better for street photography becuase they look toy things and not serious black pro camera beasts.

You just need to go out dressed like this with one :) :)

I love my K-01

I am beginning to to think that those who have the "Brick" are not partial to parting with it.
I have the Silver model and it looks great. Would I ever part with it? Now that I have the Joby hand grip, not a chance! :-D

I will buy one, but I was waiting for prices to fall again, but what I am seeing is that they are starting to creep back up again

Oh and I want the worse colour combo ever, if I am going to stand out from the crowd I am going to do it in style.

They are getting rare and desirable because of it. Better bite the bullet now :)

Which is the worst colour combo? Storm Trooper or Smurf?

Smurf every time, and I have promised myself one before Christmas.

That was my conclusion too. I have the GR and very happy with it. Of course I'm stuck with 28mm-eqv, but it's a great lens to be stuck with. That said I've not actually tried a K-01 and I would like to have a 85mm-eqv on a compact body too.

I love my K-01

I was in York today and there was ANOTHER K-01 out in the field. :yippee:
The guy had a yellow one. It was great to see another discerning K-01 owner amongst the jet black Canons/Nikons and smartphones that were taking shots of the Minster.
As a side note, I saw many Nikon 1's and Samsung NX mirrorless cameras in white, mainly in the hands of Japanese tourists.

I love my K-01

I even got my wife using it on our holiday this year! I had the 40mm XS attached and got asked at least 4 times by her 'how do I zoom this in?' I gave up in the end and offered to attach the siggy 17-70 but she looked at me in disgust and said she would not carry it because it was too big

I explained that the IQ was so much better than the WG-3 she uses, but I may as well have been talking to the camera. For the rest of the holiday the WG-3 was her weapon of choice. BTW I've never seen anyone else using a K-01, apart from my son, or other Pentaxians when we've been out on a meet.

Cheers
David
