The Ricoh GR is a superb camera, well it would be if it had a proper gasket to seal the sensor. Instead it has a crap one. Cost of a suitable gasket to suit the shape of what it is sealing would be a few pence per unit.

So now my GR has dust, a big squiggly strand of dust, right in the centre. I tried the hoovering trick and now it has more. So it is presently a brilliant but useless camera.

I also have an older GRDIII - that has dust too.

Why the **** can't they not have sorted out this easily rectified, known issue.

I'll be taking the GR to pieces, but does anyone know if the Fuji X70 is good? - it certainly looks it. It has a fixed lens too and is only slightly bigger than the GR. Any other alternatives to think about? - APS-C sensor essential, no point in having a beercan lens on it either.

I have read a lot of reports recently on sensor dust on the GR. Strangely, considering the years of abuse I have put mine through, including a self-repair to the whole lens assembly and years in the desert, mine has no dust I have noticed.

My GR had dust when it arrived (used sale) - I sent it back for cleaning (twice, they didn't get it the first time) and since then it's been fine :fingers_crossed:

IMO it's near perfect for its type, except for dust and weather resistance :thumb:

I have a Panasonic LX100 that suffers a similar problem, it is otherwise a great camera. It can be very fustrating at times.

So far i have got away with the hoover trick but its a bit tricky as the lens is a bit to big for it.
