There is a discussion on dpreview about a rumored new Ricoh/Pentax GR-E full frame curved sensor camera (E for Extreme). Here are the details – apparently Ricoh will cease all camera production and the GR line will be moved over to the Pentax brand:

36MP curved sensor
To be announced in spring or early summer
Price: $1,800
122.0 mm (W) × 64.7 mm (H) × 39.8 mm (D)
28mm f/2.4 lens (non-retractable)
Customizable lens ring
ISO 51,200
New battery

Pentax GR-E full frame curved sensor camera?

Not sure that this one quite adds up...

...I thought the major benefit of a curved sensor was that it could be used with a simpler lens design of faster aperture to deliver greater sharpness across the image (particularly improved in corners and edges) - an f2.4 lens isn't fast so appears to be missing a trick.

I would hope that the evolution of the GR series would include weather-proofing and either a way to clean the sensor, or to prevent dust getting into it in the first place (the greatest fault of the otherwise GReat GRII)

a variety of my stuff can be found here......

Not sure about this rumour either. But I wish they would hurry up and release a new GR, as I will certainly be getting one as soon as they come out. My original GR paid for all my other gear, so buying a new one is a no brainer for me.
